Pharmacological properties
Features: Selective action spasmolytic on smooth muscle fibers
uterine membranes that facilitate and shorten labor, especially in cases where there is insufficient dilation
of the cervix, decreasing the hypertonic and spasmodic states of the cervix, and causing the
same time a dilation of the uterine blood vessels, which leads to a better
oxygenation of the fetus. Likewise, it eliminates the existing spasms in the uterine musculature after
of difficult deliveries and avoids the danger of uterine prolapse, as well as the retention of afterbirth in
predisposed animals.
Pharmacodynamic characteristics: Produces strong and prolonged relaxation of the tone of the
uterine musculature, regulation of the rhythm of uncoordinated uterine contractions and increased
amplitude of the contraction waves.
Pharmacokinetic characteristics: The action manifests itself after 10-20 minutes, acting very
quickly, and begins to disappear after 1-2 hours. Excretion is via the urine
and stool.
Indications and target species
Bristles: Obstetric manipulations. Shortening of the duration of labor. Insufficient dilation of the cervix and birth canal.
Bitches: Obstetric manipulations. prolonged deliveries Insufficient dilation of the cervix and birth canal.
Contraindications
• Do not administer on all fours.
• Do not administer intravenously.
Route of administration
Intramuscular or subcutaneous.
Posology
Bristles: 2 to 4 ml/sow.
Bitches: 0,25 to 1 ml/bitch.
• Administer at the beginning of labour, in the dilation period.
• If in addition to the application of Monzal® it is necessary to also administer oxytocin, it is preferable
inject this after Monzal®.
Special precautions
• The use of Monzal® is indicated at the beginning of birth, that is, in the period of labor.
• The use of vetrabutin in the following cases has variable effects and sometimes no results
Positives: Inadequate dilation of the birth canal with complete closure of the cervix. Width
insufficient birth canal. uterine inertia.
