PHARMACEUTICAL FORM

COMPOSITION BY COMPRESSION:

Praziquantel 50mg; pyrantel 50 mg (equivalent to 144 mg pyrantel embonate); febantel 150 mg.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Treatment of mixed infections by nematodes and cestodes in dogs.

INTERACTIONS AND INCOMPATIBILITIES

• Do not use simultaneously with piperazine compounds.
• Simultaneous use with other cholinergic compounds may cause toxicity.

INDICATIONS

Dogs: Treatment of mixed infections by nematodes and cestodes of the following species:

Nematodes:

Ascarids: Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina (adults and advanced immature forms).

Hookworms: Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum (adults).

Trichuris vulpis (adults).

Cestodes:

Tapeworms: Echinococcus spp. (E. granulosus, E. multilocularis), Taenia spp. (T. hydatigena, T. pisiformis, T. taeniaeformis), Dipylidium caninum (adults and immature forms).

CONTRAINDICATIONS

• Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.

Use during pregnancy and lactation:

• Teratogenic effects attributed to high doses of febantel have been observed in sheep and rats. No studies have been performed in dogs during early gestation. The use of the veterinary medicinal product during pregnancy must be carried out in accordance with the benefit/risk assessment carried out by the responsible veterinarian.
• It is recommended not to use the veterinary medicinal product in bitches during the first 4 weeks of gestation.
• Do not exceed the dose indicated for the treatment of pregnant bitches.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

On rare occasions, gastrointestinal disturbances (diarrhoea, vomiting) have been observed.

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Orally.

• It is not necessary for the treated animal to fast before or after treatment.

POSOLOGY

Dogs: The recommended doses are: Febantel 15 mg/kg body weight, pyrantel 5 mg/kg (equivalent to 14,4 mg pyrantel embonate) and praziquantel 5 mg/kg. They are equivalent to 1 Prazitel tablet per 10 kg of body weight.

OBSERVATIONS
