The rate of treatment should be set by a veterinarian depending on the breed and the degree of
parasitosis, being the minimum time between treatments of 1 week.

Due to the form of application, it is unlikely that an overdose will occur.
In case of accidental ingestion, excitement and convulsions appear, progressing to paralysis and

- PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Ectoparasiticides, insecticides and repellents; combinations of
pyrethrins.
ATCVet code: QP53AC30
5.1 Pharmacodynamic properties
Tetramethrin is a synthetic type I pyrethroid. Type I pyrethroids (which do not contain a
alpha-cyano group) cause a pronounced increase in repetitive activity in the organs and
sensory nerve fibers. They act directly by affecting sodium channels in the
nerve membrane and cause a prolongation of the transient increase in permeability
to membrane sodium during excitation.
Type I pyrethroids also cause moderate presynaptic repetitive activity.
Produces excitement, convulsion, paralysis and death of the parasite.
Piperonyl butoxide is a synergizer for the action of tetramethrin; "per se" has a
little, almost zero, insecticidal power. When associated with tetramethrin or other pyrethrins, it increases the
their speed of action. The synergizing effect occurs by preventing the insect from degrading
tetramethrin, which increases the contact of the insecticide with the hot ectoparasite.
The association is active against: flies, mosquitoes, lice, ticks and mites
5.2 Pharmacokinetic data
After administration via the skin, it minimally crosses intact skin. In the case of the
tetramethrin, can be absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, absorption being enhanced if it is
associated with an oil-based vehicle.
