BAYTRIL 0,5% ORAL SOLUTION

Antibacterial and antimycoplasmic in oral solution

Composition:

Per ml: Enrofloxacin 50 mg.

Pharmacological properties

Fluoroquinolone with bactericidal action by acting on bacterial gyrase. Broad bactericidal spectrum and antimycoplasmic action.

Interactions and incompatibilities

Antagonistic effects may occur in co-administration with chloramphenicol (dogs), macrolides or tetracyclines.

Hepatic interactions may appear with other hepatic elimination drugs. In dogs, concomitant administration of enrofloxacin and theophylline may cause an increase in theophylline plasma concentrations.

Indications and target species

Cattle (Calves): Bacterial diseases of the respiratory and digestive tracts (E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Mycoplasma bovis), as well as secondary bacterial diseases.

Pigs: Bacterial diseases of the digestive tract (E. coli): diarrhea and/or colibacillary septicaemia.

Treatment of MMA syndrome in sows. Bacterial diseases of the respiratory tract caused by Pasteurella multocida or Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.

Dogs: Infections of the respiratory and digestive organs, of the urinary system, of the skin, as well as in the treatment of infections in wounds.

Contraindications

Animals with cartilage growth disorders.

Dogs under 12 months of age in small and medium-sized breeds, and 18 months of age in large breeds or dogs that have not finished their growth phase. Dogs with a clinical history of epilepsy and GABA-related nervous disorders.

efectos secundarios

Occasionally gastrointestinal disorders in dogs and calves.

It can produce an inflammatory reaction of variable intensity at the injection sites that can persist for up to 14 days.

Route of administration

Porcine: Intramuscular route, in the neck musculature.

Bovine (Calves): Subcutaneous route.

Dogs: Subcutaneous route.

Posology

Pigs: 2,5 mg of enrofloxacin/kg bw/day (1 ml of Baytril 5% injectable solution per 20 kg bw per day), for 3 consecutive days.

Treatment of MMA syndrome in sows: It will be carried out for 1 or 2 consecutive days.

Do not apply more than 2,5 ml at the same injection site.

Cattle (Calves): 2,5 mg of enrofloxacin/kg bw/day (1 ml of Baytril 5% injectable solution per 20 kg bw per day), for 5 consecutive days.

Do not apply more than 10 ml at the same injection site.

Dogs: 5 mg of enrofloxacin/kg/day (1 ml of Baytril 5% solution for injection per 10 kg of body weight per day), for 5 consecutive days. In chronic diseases and serious course, the duration of treatment can be extended up to 10 days.

If no clinical improvement is observed within 3 days, reconsider the treatment.

Special precautions

  • When using this product, official recommendations on the use of antimicrobials should be taken into account.
  • Do not treat bitches in the gestation and/or lactation phase.
  • Do not handle the product if there is hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones.
