Pharmaceutical form:
Injectable solution (Sol.i.)
Composition: per ml:
Oxytetracycline dihydrate 217,40 mg (equivalent to 200 mg of oxytetracycline base).
Pharmacological properties:
Tetracyclines are bacteriostatic antibiotics that inhibit protein synthesis in the
sensitive microorganisms. After diffusion through the outer membrane, an active process
transporter-mediated transports drugs across the cytoplasmic membrane, into the
that bind irreversibly to receptors on the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, where
interfere with the binding of transfer RNA of the amino acid to the acceptor site on the RNA complex
messenger/ribosome. This prevents the addition of amino acids to the peptide chain in the growth phase.
elongation, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis.
It is eliminated through urine and feces.
Concentrations and possibly the effect of single administration lasts for about
between 48 hours, for the porcine species, and from 48 to 72 hours for the other species.
Interactions and incompatibilities:
Do not administer together with bactericidal antibiotics.
Tetracyclines are known for their affinity and tendency to form insoluble complexes with
divalent and trivalent cations, especially calcium, iron, magnesium and copper.
Indications and target species:
Cattle: For the treatment of respiratory diseases associated with Pasteurella multocida,
Mannheimia haemolytica, Histophilus somni and Mycoplasma bovis; metritis (Arcanobacterium
pyogenes) and enteric infections associated with Escherichia coli.
Pigs: For the treatment of respiratory diseases associated with Pasteurella multocida,
Haemophilus parasuis, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, and Mycoplasma
spp; and metritis (Arcanobacterium pyogenes).
Sheep and goats: For the treatment of respiratory diseases associated with Pasteurella
multocide; Sheep enzootic abortion (Chlamydophila abortus Chlamydia psittaci), metritis (
Arcanobacterium pyogenes) and listeriosis (Listeria monocytogenes).
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to tetracyclines or to any of the excipients.
Do not use in animals with liver or kidney disorders.
Do not use in equines.

Side effects:
Local reactions (edema, inflammation, local irritation) may occur at the point of inoculation
that could persist from 5 to 20 days depending on the amount administered and species.
As with the rest of tetracyclines, allergic and photosensitivity reactions may appear.
Prolonged use could lead to inhibition of long bone growth in animals.
youths. The use of tetracyclines during the period of dental development may lead to
discoloration of the teeth.
Route of administration:
Deep intramuscular.
Posology:
Administer 20 mg/kg of body weight in a single dose, equivalent to 1 ml per 10 kg of body weight.
It is recommended that doses greater than 10 ml in cattle and 5 ml in sheep, goats and pigs be
distribute in two points of application.
A single dose is usually sufficient but if a satisfactory response is not achieved, the
veterinarian should reconsider the diagnosis or opt for an alternative treatment.
Special precautions:
Do not exceed the recommended dose, particularly in piglets less than 3-4 weeks old.
age.
It is preferable to administer the product in the cervical muscle (neck) rather than the hind leg.
Avoid administering more than 10 ml at an inoculation point in cattle, 5 ml in
pigs, sheep and goats and no more than 0,5 ml to piglets less than 7 days old.
In piglets, avoid administering on the same day or area of the body as iron dextran.
