VETORYL: Treatment of Hyperadrenocorticism in Dogs
VETORYL is a medication specifically formulated to control hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's syndrome) in dogs. Its active ingredient, trilostane, acts by reducing the excessive production of glucocorticoids by the adrenal glands, helping to improve the quality of life of affected animals.

Therapeutic Indications

Contraindications
- Do not use in:
- dogs with primary liver disease o renal insufficiency.
- Animals weighing less than 10 kg.
- Use in reproduction:
- Contraindicated in bitches pregnant, lactating or intended for reproduction.
Adverse reactions
- Corticosteroid Withdrawal Syndrome:
- Differentiate it from the hypoadrenocorticism by evaluation of serum electrolytes.
- Associated signs:
- Lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia.
- Iatrogenic hypoadrenocorticism which may cause acute Addisonian crisis (collapse).
- Isolated cases:
- Adrenal necrosis that can lead to hypoadrenocorticism.
- Other effects:
- Ataxia, hypersalivation, abdominal swelling, muscle tremors, skin disorders.
If serious effects occur, discontinue treatment and contact your veterinarian.
Route of Administration
Orally.
Manage once a day, along with food.
Posology
- Initial Dose:
- 2 mg / kg daily. Adjust according to clinical response and monitoring.
- Dosage Guide:
- Give the lowest dose that controls symptoms.
- In case of poorly controlled symptoms:
- Increase up to a 50% of the daily dose.
- Divide into two doses (morning and night).
- Some dogs may require higher doses than 10mg/kg/day, with additional monitoring.
